Decomposers break down the dead or decaying material into simpler substances. They wipe off the dead material through a natural process and in doing so releases various gases. For example they reduce animals or plants by releasing carbon and nitrogen in air and providing nutrients to the soil. Fungi, bacteria and some insects are the example of decomposers.
On contrary. Saprobes lives on dead and decaying matter. It takes its nutrients from the decaying organic material. These are mostly found in polluted, stagnant water and then derive its nutrients from the organisms living i it. For example mushrooms.
