Distance travel means the total distance the body has travelled. It has no direction so it can go any way.
Displacement means the shortest distance the body has travelled. It has a direction.
EG: there is a circular garden of length say 150m and a man starts jogging from point A and stops at point A itself which means he took one complete round of the park.
so the distance here will be the total length of the park i.e 150m
but the displacement will be 0 because he again returned to th same point A
Hence we conclude that DISTANCE IS THE TOTAL LENGTH THE BODY TRAVELLED AND THE AMOUNT TRAVELLED ITS THE LENGTH OF THE PARK AND DISPLACEMENT IS THE SHORTEST DISTANCE TRAVEL AND IF THE BODY RETURNS BACK TO THE SAME POSITION FROM WHERE IT STARTED THE THE AMOUNT TRAVELLED WILL REAMAIN 0

Distance is the total path covered by the body in motion whereas displacement is the shortest distance between the initial and final positions.
