The outermost electron shell of an atom is called valence shell.
The electrons present in outermost shell of an atom are called as valence electrons.
The valence electron of an atom take part in a chemical reaction because they have more energy than all the inner electrons.

Answer:

Valency:

The number of atoms that take part in the bond formation is called the valency of the element. It can also be said the combining capacity of the element.

For example: The atomic number of carbon is 6.

Carbon has 4 atoms in the outer shell. This means 4 atoms participate in the bond formation. Therefore, the valency of carbon is 4.

Electro valency:

While forming an ionic bond to attain a stable electronic configuration some electrons are gained or lost , this is called electrovalency.

For example:

When Potassium chloride is formed, potassium loses one electron.

Therefore, the electro valency of potassium is 1.
