The tabs are the individual buttons at the top. The ribbon is the entire, long horizontal row underneath.

The difference between File tab and Ribbon are given below:
File Tab:
- It gives access to functions of the files that is located under the ribbon section.
- In this tab, you can open, close, save, properties and share file options.
- The file tab is represented in the top left corner of the Microsoft.
Ribbon:
- Ribbon gives quick access to the generally used functions within the program.
- It contains eight tabs that include Home, insert, view, page layout, design, mailings, review, and view.
- It is represented below the quick access and toolbar.
