There is a difference between drag and frictionFriction is relatively constant at different velocities while drag increases with speed. For example, when you rub your hands together at different speeds, the force of friction remains the same although the heat generated will vary.

The force on an object that resists its motion through a fluid is called drag.

When a fluid is in contact with a solid object or another fluid, the force resisting motion between them is called fluid friction.
