solution : prime factors of 225 = 3 × 3 × 5 × 5

prime factors of 375 = 3 × 5 × 5 × 5

prime factors of 450 = 2 × 3 × 3 × 5 × 5

prime factors of 500 = 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 5

now HCF = highest common factors = 5 × 5 = 25

LCM = lowest common multiple = 3² × 5³ × 2² = 9 × 125 × 4 = 4500

so the difference between LCM and HCF = 4500 - 25 = 4475.
