Linear motion- An object is said to be in a linear motion when the object moves along a straight line.

Rectilinear motion- A body is said to be in rectilinear motion if any two particles of the body travel the same distance along two parallel straight lines

Answer:

A body/ object is said to be in linear motion when it travels along a straight line or along a curve in a plane.

Example- Athlete running along a straight path.

Rectilinear motion ( is also a type of linear motion) which can be described by by a moving body/object that travels only straight path. In other words, when a body travels only along a straight path, it is said to be in rectilinear motion.

Example- Light travels in a rectilinear motion.
