Differences between the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha :

Lok Sabha Rajya Sabha

1. Members of Lok Sabha are directly elected by the eligible voters. 1. Members of Rajya Sabha are elected by the elected members of State Legislative Assemblies.

2. The normal life of every Lok Sabha is 5 years. After five years the term of all elected representatives comes to an end. The Lok Sabha stands dissolved. 2. The Rajya Sabha is a permanent body. It is not subject to dissolution, but one-third of its member retire every two years.

3. The maximum strength of the House is 552. 3. It has not more than 250 members.

4. Money Bills can only be introduced in the Lok Sabha. Also it is the Lok Sabha which grants the money for running the administration of the country. 4. The Rajya Sabha does not exercise much power over Money Bills.

5. The Lok Sabha is more powerful than the Rajya Sabha. 5. The Rajya Sabha is less powerful than the Lok Sabha.
