Mass is a property of matter, it is a measure of how much stuff is in a lump of matter
A lump of matter has the same mass, no matter where it is in the universe.
Mass gives matter its inertia and the inertia of a lump of matter is the same, no matter where it is in the universe.
Weight:
Weight is a measure of the heaviness of an object - which is the result of the force of attraction between to lumps of matter (mass).
When a lump of matter is placed in a gravity field it will be pulled towards the centre of that gravity field and the force of that pull is the weight of that matter (gravity and mass are related).
However its weight will be different in different gravity fields. Thus a lump of matter that weighs 1 pound on the surface of the the earth will weigh 1/3 of a pound on the Moon because the gravity of the moon is 1/3 that of the Earth.
