Water, which is a pure substance, has the same melting and freezing points. ... 1.The melting point is the temperature at which a solid is changed into a liquid by applying heat and pressure while the freezing point is the temperature at which a liquid is changed into a solid.

THE DIFFERENCES ARE AS FOLLOWS

MELTING POINT:

  • gradual change of state from solid to liquid by absorbing heat from surrounding .
  • heat is required to supply for external source for such change of state.
  • internal energy of the substance also increase for melting.

FREEZING POINT:

  • gradual change of state from liquid to solid by leaving heat to surrounding.
  • heat is required to take away from the substance for this change of state.
  • internal enrgy of the substance decreases in case of freezing .

HOPE THIS WILL HELP!
