Those elements which have the tendency of donating electrons, and have some special qualities such as malleability, ductileness, metallic lusture and electric conductance are called Metals.
Example=> Iron, Gold, Silver etc.

Those elements which have the tendency of receiving electrons and do not have physical properties like metals are called Non-Metals.
Example=> Nitrogen, Sulphur, Chlorine etc.
