what is the difference between metals and nonmetals?

The oxides of metals tend to be basic but the oxides of non metals tend to be acidic
non metals tend to be hard but the metals lose electrons easily and they corrode easily

metals are those which are melleable and ductile and have lusture on it...
which can be converted into thin sheet and wire.

non metals are those which are not meleable and ductile which is brittle...
it cant be converted into sheet. and wires
