Meteorites are unburnt residues of shooting stars which enters in the Earth's atmosphere.

Meteor and Meteorite:

• Meteors are big chunks of celestial rocks and ice particles that suddenly come in gravitational field of earth and very quickly proceed towards earth’s gravitational field.
• This leads to friction of rock with the atmosphere, which produces a lot of heat and burns a part of rock itself. The resultant rock that reaches earth's surface is very small.
• Meteorite, on other hand, is a smaller meteor.
• It has a smaller size, so when it approaches the earth’s atmosphere, inside earth’s atmosphere, it completely burns away and no remains reach earth’s surface.
