Myopia: A person suffering from this defect can see nearby objects clearly but the distant objects appear blurred. This defect is caused due to the eye lens being too thick. The ciliary muscles are unable to relax enough to make the lens thin while viewing distant objects.
It can be corrected using a concave lens of required power which diverges the rays in such a way that they appear to come from a far point of a myopic eye.

Hypermetropia: A person suffering from this defect can see distant objects clearly but nearby objects appear blurred. This defect generally occurs during old age.The ciliary muscles are not able to make the lens thick while viewing nearby objects.
It can be corrected using a convex lens of required power which converges the ray in such a way that it appears to come from near point of hypermetropic eye.
