What is the difference between natural logarithm(ln) and log??

The use of the "ln" abbreviation fornatural logarithm is a bad thing because it makes people think that "log" is one thing and "ln" is another thing, and ask what's the difference between the two. The base-logarithmic function is a logarithmicfunction.

Natural logarithms are different than common logarithms. While the base of a common logarithmis 10, the base of a natural logarithm is the special number e. Although this looks like a variable, it represents a fixed irrational number approximately equal to 2.718281828459.
