1.They are formed due to the folding of earth crusts therefore called young fold mountains.
2.The altitude of Himalayas are from 4500 to 8000m.
3.The Mt.Everest, K2, Kanchenjunga etc are the highest peaks.
4.They are snow capped mountains.
5.The alpine forests and temperate are found in this region.

1.They were formed due to the break up of Gondwana land during pre cambrian time.
2.The altitude of southern hills are from 1500 to 3000m
3.Anaimudi, Doda Beta etc are the highest peaks.
4.They are not snow capped.
5.The evergreen forests and tropical forests are found in this region.
