what is the difference between nucleons and mass number of an atom

they are almost the same protons and neutrons are called nucleoside and the number of proton and neutron are called mass number

The atomic number is the thing which defines which element it is, all cesium isotopes have the same chemistry as they all have the same number of protons and thus the same number of electrons in the atom.
 
The atomic weight is the sum of the number of protons and neutrons, the neutron (and the weight) has very little effect on the chemistry. Some very slight differences between the chemistry of light and heavy isotopes exist but for most purposes these weight effects can be ignored.
 
However the weight effects do have effects on the physical properties of elements and their compounds, for example the infra-red spectrum of HCl shows different lines for those molecules with Cl-35 from those with Cl-37.
