Hey there !

Non metallic oxides are acidic in nature .. but what about water its also a non metallic because oxide Acidity or basicity depends upon the free H+ and OH- ions in the solution. Water dissociates reversibly to form H+ and OH-ions. The concentration of both these ions  is a equal and hence water is non- metal.
H2O ⇌ H+ + OH-

Hope this helps !!

Snehasweety: if the concentration of OH and H is equal then how it is acidic in nature...... as non metallic oxides are acidic in nature???
Mansha121: thankyou brother it helped me
Snehasweety: how
Snehasweety: ??

no water is not a non metallic oxides because it has equal concentration of OH and H ions...
it is neither acidic not basic, it is neutral
it's ph value is 7

Mansha121: hey there uep uh are right ... but same thing is written in the answer above .. but tht just describes the answer a little more further
Snehasweety: the above answer says that water is non metal
Snehasweety: but it is neither metal not non metal
Mansha121: well, it all depends on hydrogen
nd hydrogen is a non metal and thus when hydrogen reacts with oxygen obvio. a non metallic oxide gets formed and thts water over here nd thus water is a non metallic oxide but not acidic or basic water is nuetral and the reason uh know
