In the context of job reservations / quota in India, the caste 'Other Backward Class (OBC)' is categorized as Non-creamy and Creamy layer. This is done in order to provide more job opportunity for the people with low financial background.
If the candidate's family income is less than 6 lakhs per annum, then he is categorized into non-creamy layer of OBC. He is eligible to enjoy the OBC quota.
Others fall into Creamy layer, who are considered as General category in job reservations, which holds heavy competition.
