Suddenly, God of river ( Mercury) appeared before him and asked him why he was crying. He explained everything to her. She said not to worry and dived into the river. She came back with a golden axe and asked if it was his. He said no and started weeping again. She again dived into the river and came back with a silver axe and asked if it was his axe. He again replied no. She then came back from the river with a iron axe. The woodcutter was very happy on seeing his axe and said it was his. Mercury was taken aback by woodcutter's honesty and gifted him both the golden as well as silver axe along with this iron axe.
