Oxidation state often called as 'The Oxidation number', which is an indicator of the degree of oxidation of an atom in the chemical compound.
• Oxidation number :
It is the charge that atom would have if the chemical compound was composed of ions.
• Oxidation state :
In the chemical compound, If the number is negative, the number of electrons that are lost or gained is represented by the number ,then the number is called as oxidation state.
