Hello...
In context of India...
President is the supreme but it doesn't have powers like Prime Minister of India.
President is the first citizen of India and all the works are done under the name of President but He doesn't control the Govt.
Prime Minister is the One who control the Govt with his cabinate minister.

The president is elected as the leader of the country, such as he or she is the head of state. Also, he or she runs the government; the president is also the head of government. The monarch is the head of state for the United Kingdom, so the prime minister is merely the head of government.
