Resistanceis ameasure of the oppositionthat a circuit (or an electrical element) offers to the flow of electric current. Resistance isdependenton thelength and area of cross-sectionof the conductor. It ismeasured in Ohms, Ω. Resistance of a conductor changes with temperature.

Resistivityis themeasure of a materials ability to opposethe flow of current. Resistivity of a conductor is aproperty of the materialof the conductor. Unit of resistivity isOhm meter, Ω m. Resistivity of the material of the conductor changes with temperature.

RESISTANCE ➡

▶ Resistance is the property of a conductor to resist the flow of charges through it.

▶ Its SI unit is ohm.

RESISTIVITY ➡

▶ Resistivity is the electrical resistance per unit length and per unit of cross-sectional area.

▶ Its SI unit is ohm metre.
