Esterification is process of formation of Ester by Acid and Alcohol..
while its reverse rxn is Saponification. i.e. Hydrolysis of ester to form Acid and Alcohol is c/a Saponification

Hey mate here you go...
1) When ethanoic acid reacts with alcohol it give rise to Ester. This reaction is known as esterification reaction.
1) On treating ester sodium hydroxide , which is alkali ester is converted back to alcohol and sodium salt of carboxylic acid. This is known as saponification reaction.
2) Esters are sweet smelling substance used in making perfumes and as flavouring agents.
2) saponification reaction is used in the preparation of soap.
