During the month of July to September the south west monsoon blows from the Arabian sea and the Bay of Bengal towards the North India. This wind brings rainfall in almost the whole northern India. These wind blow from sea high pressure region to the land low pressure areas and cause rainfall. It is known as coming of monsoon.
During the month of October to April, wind blows in North-East from land to sea. When these wind flows over Bay of Bengal, they take moisture. These moisture when strikes with the eastern coast, they cause rainfall there i.e., Tamilnadu. In this way wind causes rainfall in the coastal areas in winter. This is known as return of monsoon.
