Speed is a scalar quantity. It is nothing but distance divided by time.
velocity is the rate of change of displacement that is displacement by time. Displacement is a vector. Velocity is also a vector quantity. For example if you say 30 miles per hour you're referring to speed but if you say 30 miles per hour north you're referring to velocity. Hope I helped!!
