what is the difference between static friction and sliding friction? for a given pair of objects which of the two is greater?

Static friction:  The friction between the two surfaces of the bodies which are in contact with each other and also they are at rest, then it is static friction.
Sliding friction: The friction between two surfaces of the bodies which are in contact with each other and they are sliding, then the friction is sliding friction.

the above answer is correct so everybody can write it bu the above answer only has the difference.It does not have the answer for the last question which of the two is greater so I am giving the answer and the answer is that static friction is more greater than sliding friction
