The ASA Congruence Criterion is: Angle, Included Side and Angle.
Whereas the AAS Congruence Criterion is: Angle, Angle, Side. The side is not included between the angles; but it still works since the third angle can be found through angle sum property of a triangle.

The asa rule has two angles on the same side and the side between them.
Whereas,
The aas rule has two angles on same side and the side on the other length of triangle.
