What is the difference between the following: Barkhan - Loess.

Loess: When the grains of sand are very fine and light, the wind can carry it over very long distances. When such sand is deposited in large areas, it is called loess.
Barkhan: A crescent shaped sand dune is called a barkhan.

Loess: When the ultra fine particles or grains of sand are very  light, the wind can easily carry it over to very long distances.

When such sand is deposited  over a great and  large areas, it is termed as loess.

Bar khan: 

A crescent shaped sand dune is called and known as a bar khan.Barchans dunes are very commonly found in desertareas around the globe and are the common locations where sand dunes occur.

The most remarkable of these are the Sahara Desert in Egypt and the Gobi Desert in Asia. Photos by orbiting spacecraft has shown barchan dunes on of Mars.
