A village is a gathered human establishment or association, larger than a settlement but smaller than a city, with a people ranging hundred to thousand. Though villages are oftentimes established in rural regions, the word urban village is also employed in specific residential neighborhoods.

A Revenue Village is a small administrative district in India, a village with decided margins. One revenue village may comprise of several settlements. Each revenue village is directed by a "Village Administrative Officer" (VAO).
