Mass => The most important general property of matter is that it has mass . All of the objects u put on ur mental list have mass . But what is mass ?

Mass is the amount of matter in an object . The mass of an object does not change unless some matter is either removed from the objects or added to the objects .

The amount of mass in all kinds of matter is not same . For example , iron has more amount of mass then alluminium and wood . Mass is measured in units called grams ( g ) and kilograms ( kg ) . The mass of this book is about 200 grams .

Weight => Weight is another general property of matter . Actually mass is the reason that an object has weight .

In order to understand what weight is , you must know something about gravity .

You have probably noticed that a ball thrown up in the air soon falls to the ground . And u know that an apple that drops off a tree falls down , not up . The ball and the apple fall to earth because of the earth's force of attraction for them . The force attraction on objects is called gravity .

The pull of gravity on an object determines the objects weight . On the earth , ur weight is a direct measure of the earth's force pulling u toward the surface . The pull of gravity between objects weakens as the distance between the centre of the objects become greater . So , at a high altitude , on top of a tall mountain for example , u actually weigh less than on the surface of the earth .

Hy hope will be helps u
