IONIC BOND are formed by the transfer of Electrons from Metal To Non-Metal. Thus Metal gain +ve charge and Non-Metal gain -ve charge. They are held Due to Strong Electrostatic force between Them.
whereas Covalent Bond are Formed by Sharing of Electrons between Two or more Non-Metals.
Differences-
IONIC COMPOUND have High Melting point whereas Covalent COVALENT have low Melting point.
IONIC COMPOUND are hard due to Strong Electrostatic force betwee Atoms. Whereas COVALENT COMPOUND are generally NOT HARD
IONIC COMPOUND are Soluble in POLAR SOLVENT i.e Water , BUT COVLENT COMPOUND not SOLUBlE or partially Soluble in Water.
IONIC COMPOUND are good conductor of electricity due to presence of IONS in them but COVALENT COMPOUND are Are poor conductor of electricity due to absence of IONS
