Power Sharing Between Different Organs of Government:-Power is shared among different organs of the government like legislative, judiciary and executive. It is called horizontal distribution of power because it allows different organs of the government placed at the same level to exercise different powers. Each organ can check the other's functioning. This is called a system of checks and balances. For example, judges are appointed by the executive but the judges can check the functioning of the legislative or the laws made by the judiciary.

Power Sharing Among Different Levels of Government:-Power is shared among different levels of Government such as the Central Government for the entire country and the governments at the state and local level. Division of powers of involving higher and lower levels of government is called vertical distribution of power.

Power Sharing Among Different Political Parties and Pressure Groups:- In a democracy, people must be able to choose the various contenders of their wish. In contemporary democracies, this takes the form of elections. Different political parties get elected that represent different ideologies and social groups. Sometimes, this kind of sharing can be direct when two or more parties form an alliance to contest the elections. If their alliance is elected, they will form a coalition government and thus share power.

Power Sharing Among Different Social Groups:-  Power is shared among different social groups. Community Government is the best example of such an arrangement. In some countries, there are legal arrangements and constitution provisos whereby socially wearers sections are represented in the administration. This allows Scheduled Castes, Schedued Tribes, Other Backward Classes and Women to be represented in the administration. This can be one method to give power to them.

Power Sharing Between Different interest Groups:- Power is shared among different interest groups such as traders, businessmen etc.... They share power, either through participation in government committees or by influencing decision making.
