Difference between spontaneous combustion and rapid combustion are:-

Rapid combustion- it occurs when a substance burns rapidly and releases large amounts of heat. For example, burning of matchstick and combustion of LPG. This is usually attained bye by introducing external heat. Substances which undergo rapid combustion have lower ignition temperature.

Spontaneous combustion- in this combustion, no external ignition is required. For instance, sodium metal undergoes spontaneous combustion on exposure to air. It reacts with moisture present in air, and the heat released during the reaction helps sodium metal to attain its ignition temperature. This is the reason, sodium is stored in kerosene to cut off the contact with air.
