What is the direction of an object moving along a circular path ? Explain with help of an example
Answers
Answer:When the body moves in a circular path with uniform
speed, it is called uniform circular motion.
It is possible for a body to move in a circular path with uniform speed as long
as it is travelling equal distances in equal interval of time, but the velocity
cannot be uniform since the direction of motion is continually changing.
Let's assume a stone, tied to a thread, is rotated in a circular path with
uniform speed in clockwise direction as shown in figure:
When the
stone is at A, its speed is directed towards the east and if the stone is
released at this point, it will fly off in the east direction. Similarly, if
the stone is released at B, it will fly off along the south. Hence due to the
change in velocity, the motion is an accelerated motion, circular accelerated
motion. Though, the speed may not change but direction will change.
