Question :- What is the discriminant of 3x² - 10x = (- 2) ?

Solution :-

we know that, The discriminant of a quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0 is given by :-

  • b² - 4ac .
  • The discriminant tells us whether there are two solutions, one solution, or no solutions.

So, comparing the given polynomial 3x² - 10x + 2 = 0 with ax² + bx + c = 0, we get,

  • a = 3
  • b = (-10)
  • c = 2

Putting all values we get,

→ D = b² - 4ac

→ D = (-10)² - 4 * 3 * 2

→ D = 100 - 24

→ D = 76 (Ans.)

Hence, the discriminant of given polynomial is 76.
