Distance of any point from y-axis is equal to x value of the point.

The value of x of point (-4,-7) is -4.

x=-4

For distance we will take absolute value of x

Distance of point = |-4|=4

Thus, point (-4,-7) is 4 unit left side from y-axis.

Answer:

the point on y axis = 0,-7

by distance formula,

√(-4-0)² + (-7+7)² = √16 + 0

                             = √16

                             = 4 units

the distance is 4 units
