it means that any king will die in India the kingdom will not be passed to his son or his family member it will be lapse, means it will be a British property then

According to the doctrine of lapse ,if any Indian ruler of a dependent state dies without leaving behind a natural born male heir,the state would automatically be annexed by the British government.
States annexed by this policy of annexation:-
Jhansi,Satara,Jaitpur,Sambalpur and Udaipur.
