Breathing CO can cause headache, dizziness, vomiting, and nausea. If CO levels are high enough, you may become unconscious or die. Exposure to moderate and high levels of CO over long periods of time has also been linked with increased risk of heart disease.

Carbon monoxide is an unsaturated oxide of carbon with formula CO
Explanation:
- This oxide is a serious threat to mankind. Very less amount is able to kill mankind. Carbon monoxide is produced as a result of incomplete combustion of carbon, in presence of less oxygen.
- This gas has a strong affinity towards hemoglobin which is unable to detach from hemoglobin, unlike oxygen or carbon dioxide. So, the carboxyhemoglobin that is produced is practically rendered useless. This leads to lessening of hemoglobin level and hypoxia and finally death.
