Answer:

The inhibition increases with oxygen concentration and is about 30% in an atmosphere of 21% O2 and 0.03% CO2. Undoubtedly, therefore, oxygen in normal air exerts a strong inhibitory effect on photosynthetic CO2 fixation of land plants under natural conditions.

Dear Student,

● Photosynthesis -

  • It is a process used by plants and other organisms to convert light energy into chemical energy.
  • In photosynthesis plants take CO2 & water, convert it into glucose & O2 in presence of sunlight.

CO2 + H2O + sunlight → C6H12O6 + O2

◆ Effect of excess of oxygen on the rate of photosynthesis -

  • Oxygen is a product in the process of photosynthesis.
  • Rate of photosynthesis is inversely proportional to
  • oxygen concentration.
  • Excess of oxygen has inhibitary effect on rate of photosynthesis.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you ..
