The Greenhouse Effect is that the heat radiation Flux from the Sun is added to by that from the Greenhouse Gas layer to produce a higher temperature than the Sun on its own.

An actual greenhouse works in this way: energy passes through the glass and heats the air inside. The air is not allowed to escape and therefore the temperature inside the greenhouse is higher than the temperature outside
