What is the effect of humidity on quality of sound propagation
Is there any difference in propagation of sound in air during the summer and winte season discuss

Explanation:

The main formula used here is:

v = γRT/M

Where:

v - velocity of sound

R - constant, doesn't depend upon any factor

T - temperature

M - molecular mass of the medium

When the amount of water in the air increases, the molecular mass M decreases [As molecular mass of water is 18, while molecular mass of nitrogen is 28]. So 'v' increases. Hence, when humidity increases, velocity of sound increases.

In the summer season, sound travels faster as T increases much more than M, so sound is faster in summer than winter.

Hope it helps!
