Hi friend,

1) The empirical formula of N2O4 is :-

NO2.

NO2, N2O4 . it is possible for two substance to have the same empirical formula , but different moleculer formulas.

2) The empirical formula of C4H10 is ;-

C2H5.

The moleculer formula of a compound may or may not be the same as its emprical formula....i hope it helps you

The empirical formula of N2O4 and C4H10 is NO2 and C2H5 respectively.

  • The molecular formula is different from an empirical formula.
  • Mass in the molecular formula can be equal to or greater than the mass of the empirical formula but never less than the mass of the empirical formula.
  • The molecular formula is obtained by multiplying an integer by the empirical formula.
  • The molecular formula of N2O4 = 2 × empirical formula = 2 × NO2
  • Similarly, the molecular formula of C4H10 = 2 × empirical formula = 2 × C2H5
  • Hence, t.he empirical formula of N2O4 and C4H10 is NO2 and C2H5 respectively.
