Equivalent resistance in series combination is obtained by adding all the resistance so it's equivalent resistance will be 5 ohm

Remember for this type of circuit all resistors are connected in parallel so Equivalent Resistance, Req is given by ,

1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3

1/Req = 1/2R + 1/2R + 1/R

1/Req = (1+1+2)/2R

1/Req = 4/2R

1/Req = 2/R

Req = R/2

Hence, Equivalent Resistance between A and B is R/2 ohm.
