In 1892, Helen Keller wrote a story "The Frost King" from her own imagination* and sent it to Mr. Anagnos, director of the Perkins Institute in Boston. Mr. Anagnos was happy to see that and her story was published in one of the Perkins Institution Report.
After that someone pointed out that a similar story was published years ago(that story was Miss Canby's "Frost Fairies"). Hence Helen was accused for plagiarism. She had trials in court and was enquired about it, she felt very humiliated and cried bitterly. She stopped writing after this incident.(till "Youth's companion").
(The "Frost Fairies" was told to Helen by Mr. Hopkins)
