What is the explanation for the three states of matter?

Answer:
Explanation:
solidA substance that retains its size and shape without a container; a substance whose molecules cannot move freely except to vibrate.
gasA substance that can only be contained if it is fully surrounded by a container (or held together by gravitational pull); a substance whose molecules have negligible intermolecular interactions and can move freely.
liquidA substance that flows and keeps no definite shape because its molecules are loosely packed and constantly moving. It takes the shape of its container but maintains constant volume.
in solids the particles are closely packed. there is a strong force of attraction between the particles of a solid which holds them together in a fixed position. thus the positions of particles in a solid are fixed.they cannot move from one position to another. if a solid is heated, its particles start to vibrate faster. a solid has a fixed shape because the particles of a solid are closely packed and their position are fixed due to the strong force of attraction between them. a solid has a fixed volume because the spaces between its particles are fixed. a solid cannot be compressed much because their parties are already very closely packed. a solid has a high density because its particles are very close together.
in liquids the parties are close together but they are not as close as in solids. a liquid doesn't have a fixed shape because the position of its particles are not fixed due to comparatively less strong force of attraction between them. a liquid has a fixed volume because at a given temperature the space between its particles are fixed .a liquid generally flow easily because its particles are able to slide over One another due to slightly weaker interparticle force of attraction.
in gases, the particles are much farther apart from one another as compared to solid and liquid. a gas doesn't have a fixed shape because The position of its particles are not fixed. a gas have a very low densities because its particles are very far apart from One another. a gas flows easily because its particles are completely free to move anywhere.
