Contiguous with all continental South American countries except Ecuador and Chile, Brazil is bounded on the N by Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guiana, on the NE , E , and SE by the Atlantic Ocean, on the S by Uruguay, on the SW by Argentina and Paraguay, on the W by Bolivia and Peru, and on the NW by Colombia, with a total boundary length of 14,691 km (9,108 mi). Brazil is divided into 26 states and one federal district. The federal district, including the capital of Brasília, inaugurated on 21 April 1960, is surrounded on three sides by the state of Goiás and on the fourth by Minas Gerais.

Longitudinal and latitudinal extent of Brazil: Brazil being the 4th largest country in the world has an area 4,319 kilometers from east to west (34 degrees 47 minutes 30 seconds E to 73 degree 59 minutes 32 seconds W longitude) and extends 4,395 kilometers from north to south (5 degrees 16 minutes 20 seconds N to 33 degrees 44 minutes 32 seconds S latitude).

Longitudinal and latitudinal extent of India: India being one of the biggest countries in Asia has an area of 2933 kilometers from east to west (68 degrees 7 minutes E to 97 degrees 25 minutes E longitude)

and extends 3214 kilometers  from North to South (37 degrees 6 minutes N to 8 degrees 4 minutes N latitude)

The difference in the longitudinal and latitudinal extent of India and Brazil is ≅ 10 degrees with Brazil being longer.
