The first law of motion or law of interia sates that, Any object at rest will remain at rest and any object moving in a straight line will keep moving with a uniform speed until and unless an external force is applied to change the state of motion of that object.
For example-
- A book at rest will not move until someone applies force to move it
- A bicycle in motion will keep on moving forever (provided no air resistance and no friction) until a force is applied to stop it.
