Hey!

Formal letter:

Sender's address (only 3 lines without your name)

Leave a line

Date in the form 21st August, 2017 (write the date when u're writing the letter)

Leave a line

Receiver's address without name but if there's a designation, mention it.

Eg:

The Editor,

The Times of India,

Delhi-110001.

Leave a line

Salutation like Dear Sir,

1st para: Introduction of yourself, your place of residence, etc. One line description of the cause of writing the letter (if possible)

2nd para: description of your problem.

3rd para: your suggestions.

Requesting to oblige like “It'll be good if you publish this in your newspaper”, “kindly see through the matter”.

Yours sincerely,

Signature

(Name in brackets)

Informal:

Sender's address (only 3 lines without your name)

Leave a line

Date in the form 21st August, 2017 (write the date when u're writing the letter)

Salutation

1st para: asking about health, family. No hi, hello.

2nd and 3rd: whatever the letter is about

Last line: “convey my regards to your family”, “convey my regards to grandpa”,”I'll be waiting to meet you”.

Yours lovingly,

Sign.

P.S.: in formal letter, the subject may or may not be mentioned. You won't be penalised.

All the best!!

Edit 1: It seems some schools penalise if subject is not mentioned in formal letters. So, I advise you to clarify it with your teacher. I was told by my teacher that subject is not necessary. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sam6532: ty!
sonnagupta45: yes its true i too was advised by my teacher not to write the subject
Sam6532: me toi
Sam6532: *too
