there is no specific formula to find it.
but you can divide the hexagon into two triangles and a rectangle or a square

1st approach:

Let each face of the shape be taken as X, assuming that it is a perfect hexagon (all sides are equivalent).

Therefore, the required formula is,

Area of a hexagon = \frac{{3}\sqrt{3}} {2} X^{2}

2nd approach:

Consider a perfect hexagon,

An apothem i.e. a line drawn from the center of the hexagon that makes a perpendicular at the midpoint of one of the sides is used when the measurements sides of the hexagon are not provided.

Taking apothem as ‘a’, then side ‘L’ of the hexagon can be measured by,

L = \frac{2a}{\sqrt{3}}

Now, area of the hexagon is

A = \frac{1}{2}×Perimeter×apothem

= \frac{1}{2}*6*\frac{2a}{\sqrt{3}}*a=\frac{6a^2}{3}
